LOCATION: Ibiza, Spain.
Este año hemos cambiado de plan y en vez de irnos todas las vacaciones al norte de España como siempre, hicimos una escapada a Ibiza a principios de julio porque no conocíamos la isla y teníamos muchas ganas de salir de Madrid.
La isla nos sorprendió mucho. Me encantó, me pareció un paraíso que no era consciente que teníamos en España.
This year we changed our itinerary and instead of spending all our holidays in the north of Spain as usual, we went to Ibiza at the beginning of July because we didn't know the island and we really wanted to get out of Madrid.
Ibiza surprised us a lot. I loved it, it seemed like a paradise that I wasn't aware that we had in Spain.

10 SPOTS YOU CAN'T MISS
1. Atardecer en Es Vedrá. Es muy típico pero me pareció un planazo y uno de los atardeceres más bonitos que he visto. Tuvimos suerte porque sin saberlo llegamos pronto y cogimos muy buen sitio. Mi consejo es que cojáis cena en algún sitio como para hacer picnic y lleguéis al parking como 1.30h o 2h antes del atardecer. Hay que caminar un rato por tierra hasta llegar al mirador y luego allí podéis sentaros al borde del acantilado con el picnic y cervezas de chill hasta el atardecer. Veréis que a medida que se acerca la hora se llena de gente hasta que ya no cabe casi nadie más. Es espectacular y precioso. Merece mucho la pena.
1. Sunset in Es Vedra. It is very typical but I thought it was a great plan and one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. We were lucky because without knowing it we arrived early and got a very good place. My advice is to get dinner for a picnic and get to the car park about 1.30h or 2h before sunset. It's a short walk overland to the lookout point and then you can sit on the edge of the cliff with your picnic and chill until sunset. You will see that as the sunsets approaches it gets more and more crowded until there is hardly room for anyone else. It is spectacular and beautiful. It's well worth it.
2. Una excursión a Formentera. Otro de mis días favoritos fue el que visitamos la isla de Formentera. Se puede ir en Ferry aunque nosotros ese día aprovechamos para alquilar un barco para nosotros y conocer la isla. El plan del barco es una pasada porque conoces las islas desde una perspectiva diferente y es muy divertido. La entrada en barco a la playa de Ses Illetes en Formentera nunca se me olvidará. Ha sido una de las experiencias más alucinantes que he vivido. El agua es completamente transparente y de un azul que parece irreal. Se ven los peces nadar y está lleno de barcos espectaculares y preciosos.
2. A trip to Formentera. Another of my favourite days was when we visited the island of Formentera. You can go there by ferry, although we took advantage of the day to rent a boat just for us and explore the island. The boat plan is amazing because you get to know the islands from a different perspective and it's a lot of fun. I will never forget the boat trip to Ses Illetes beach in Formentera. It was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. The water is completely transparent the blue color seems unreal. You can see the fish swimming under and it is full of spectacular and beautiful boats.
3. Mercadillo Las Dalias. Lo hacen tres o cuatro días. ala semana, consultad en internet, y es un plan muy cool para una tarde. Nos duchamos después de la playa y fuimos antes de que atardeciera. Tienes que pagar para entrar y luego dentro hay bastantes puestos hippies muy originales (no son baratos) y food trucks para cenar. Cenamos sorprendentemente bien la verdad, aunque era comida rápida pero muy rica. No compré nada porque no iba con mente de comprar nada y los precios me parecieron desorbitados pero fue un plan muy divertido.
3. Las Dalias street market. They do it three or four days a week, check the internet, and it's a very cool plan for an afternoon. We showered after the beach and went before the sun went down. You have to pay to get in and then inside there are quite a few original hippy stalls (not cheap) and food trucks for dinner (so good). We had a surprisingly good dinner, although it was fast food but very tasty. I didn't buy anything because I wasn't in the mood to buy anything and the prices seemed exorbitant but it was a very fun plan.
4. El atardecer en Punta Galera. Me lo recomendó una amiga y ha sido uno de los atardeceres más bonitos que he visto nunca. No debe ser tan conocido porque había poca gente, nada comparado con Es Vedrá. El sitio es un acantilado espectacular y se pone el sol en el mar. Muy, muy recomendable.
4. The sunset at Punta Galera. A friend recommended it to me and it was one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. It must not be so well known because there were few people, nothing compared to Es Vedrá. The place is a spectacular cliff and the sun sets into the sea. Highly, highly recommended.
5. Cala Gracioneta. Esta fue una de las que más me gustó. Pasamos el día allí y tuvimos suerte porque cuando llegamos nos dijeron que no había sitio pero entramos igualmente. Al llegar abajo vimos un chiringuito que nos encantó que estaba a la entrada de la cala. Tenía música y estaba super bonito decorado. Reservamos para comer y entonces nos dejaron pasar a la cala (Flipamos un poco pero así fue). Estuvimos super a gusto, la cala es una pasada y el plan es muy chill. Cuando consultamos la carta del chiringuito en internet casi nos da un vuelco al corazon. (la consultamos porque escuché a alguien diciendo que la botella de agua eran 10€...) a si que descubrimos que había un camino a la izquierda que conectaba con la playa de al lado (no tan bonita) a la que se podía ir andando y tenían un chiringuito al uso, de precios razonables sonde comimos muy bien. A si que espero que esta información os sea muy útil si vais :P.
5. Cala Gracioneta. This was one of the ones I liked the most. We spent the day there and we were lucky because when we got there we were told there was no room but we went in anyway. When we got there we saw a beach bar that we loved that was at the entrance of the beach. It had music and was beautifully decorated. We booked to eat and then they let us into the beach (we were a bit shocked but that's how it was). We were super comfortable, the beach is amazing and the plan is very chill. When we checked the menu of the beach bar on the internet we almost had a heart attack (we checked it because I heard someone saying that the bottle of water was 10€...) so we discovered that there was a path to the left that connected to the next beach (not that nice) that you could walk to and they had a beach bar with reasonable prices where we ate very well. So I hope this information will be very useful if you go :P.
6. Cala Benirrás. Fuimos a ver el atardecer porque también es uno de los más famosos. Hay un día que cuando e pone el sol hay un grupo de gente que toca los bongos y baila y queríamos verlo, pero nos dijeron que a las 15.00h se cortaba el acceso al parking y ya no se podía entrar a si que si quería verlo había que echar allí la tarde. Decidimos que no nos apetecía estar toda la tarde allí a si que fuimos otro día poco antes de atardecer ya que con bongos o sin ellos era muy bonito. Tuvimos la suerte de que ese día, espontáneamente también había bongos. Cuando e puso el sol hubo un aplauso general de la playa y empezaron a tocar y a bailar. Fue muy chulo. El ambiente era estupendo, Además había un mercadillo hippie con cositas a precios razonables, ahí si que me conté una tobillera de recuerdo :).
6. Cala Benirrás. We went to see the sunset because it is also one of the most famous. There is a day when the sun sets and there is a group of people playing the bongos and dancing and we wanted to see it, but we were told that at 15.00h the access to the car park was cut off and it was no longer possible to enter so if you wanted to see it you had to spend the afternoon there. We decided that we didn't want to spend the whole afternoon there so we went another day just before sunset as with or without bongos it was very beautiful. We were lucky that on that day, spontaneously there were also bongos. When the sun went down there was a general applause from the beach and they started to play and dance. It was very cool. The atmosphere was great, and there was also a hippy market with great priced stuff, where I had an anklet as a souvenir :).
7. Dalt Vila. Es la zona dentro e la muralla de la ciudad de Ibiza. Es precioso, según entras hay toda una calle llena de restaurantes y bares ideales. Sigues subiendo y descubriendo callecitas preciosas y arriba del todo hay unas vistas espectaculares sobre el mar. Es un plan genial para ir por la tarde y cenar allí o tomar una copa.
7. Dalt Vila. This is the area inside the city walls of Ibiza. It is beautiful, as you enter there is a whole street full of restaurants and bars. You keep going up and discovering beautiful little streets and at the top there are spectacular views over the sea. It's a great place to go in the evening and have dinner or a drink there.
8. Cala Saladeta. Se llega andando desde Cala Salada, también se llena el parking bastante rápido. Bajas andando hasta cala Salada (que no me gustó mucho porque eran piedras, no arena) y desde allí a la izquierda sale un camino que llega a Cala Saladeta que me pareció super agradable y con arena fina. Pasamos allí la tarde y estuvimos genial.
8. Cala Saladeta. You can get there on foot from Cala Salada, and the car park fills up quite quickly. You walk down to Cala Salada (which I didn't like very much because there were pebbles, not sand) and from there to the left there is a path that leads to Cala Saladeta which I found very pleasant and with fine sand. We spent the afternoon there and it was great.
9. Cala d'Hort. Es un poco incómoda porque para entrar al agua tenías que caminar sobre piedras y era complicado entrar y salir. Mantener la dignidad es complicado :). Sin embargo es una de la más bonitas para mi gusto. Si lo sabes y vas con cangrejeras merece la pena porque la vista del mar con el peyote es preciosa.
9. Cala d'Hort. It is a bit uncomfortable because to get into the water you had to walk on stones and it was complicated to get in and out. Keeping your dignity up is complicated :). However, it is one of the most beautiful for me. If you know it and you go with the appropriate water shoes it's worth it because the view of the sea with the peyote is beautiful.
10. Playa de Portinatx. Fuimos a esta zona por casualidad porque nuestro hotel estaba justo en esa playa y nos encantó. Es una alternativa genial si quieres un día tranquilo y un plan relajado. La zona era muy familiar y la playa es preciosa. No la hubiésemos conocido de no ser por el hotel y me parece muy recomendable si estás por la zona. Es una playa preciosa y muy agradable lejos del barullo de la isla.
10. Portinatx beach. We went to this area by chance because our hotel was right on this beach and we loved it. It is a great alternative if you want a quiet day and a relaxed plan. The area was very family friendly and the beach is beautiful. We wouldn't have known it if it wasn't for the hotel and I think it's highly recommended if you're in the area. It is a beautiful and very nice beach away from the hustle and bustle of the island.
ERRORES QUE COMETIMOS QUE TENEIS QUE TENER EN CUENTA
1. Reservad el coche con antelación. Nosotros lo hicimos pero hubo un problema con la reserva y al llegar al aeropuerto salía como cancelada, por tanto tuvimos que alquilar allí uno sobre la marcha. Se iban agotando por minutos y subían los precios disparatadamente. Al final pagamos mucho más de lo que habíamos contado cuando lo reservamos a su que la próxima vez no nos pasa...
2. No comáis en los chiringuitos de la playa de Ses Illetes en Formentera, son desorbitadamente caros y no merece la pena para nada. Cometimos el erro de principiantes pero bueno, no tuvimos mas remedio. tampoco nos volverá a pasar.
3. Evitad las playas conocidas en fin de semana. Suele haber tortas y sin embargo entre semana consigues ir a horas decentes. También s verdad que nosotros fuimos a principios de Julio, quizás en otra época de igual si es fin de semana o día de diario...no lo sé...
MISTAKES WE MADE THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
1. Book the car in advance. We did it but there was a problem with the reservation and when we arrived at the airport it was cancelled, so we had to rent one there. They were running out by the minute and the prices were unreal. In the end we paid much more than what we had counted on when we booked it, so next time it won't happen to us...
2. Don't eat at the beach bars on Ses Illetes beach in Formentera, they are incredibly expensive and not worth it at all. We made a beginner's mistake but we had no choice. It won't happen again.
3. Avoid well-known beaches on weekends. There is usually a lot of crowds, but during the week you can go at decent hours. It's also true that we went there at the beginning of July, maybe at another time of the year, whether it's a weekend or a weekday... I don't know...
