HOTEL INKATERRA LA CASONA | CUZCO | PERU TRAVEL GUIDE

El primer día que llegamos a Cuzco nos alojamos en un hotel precioso y súper especial, en una casa del siglo XVI en el centro de la ciudad. Fue la casa de Simón Bolívar, " El libertador" y ahora se ha convertido en un hotel.

Cuando entras es como entrar en una casa privada, un oasis de paz en la ciudad. Inkaterra La Casona es un hotel súper elegante, lleno de reliquias históricas, decorado con mucho gusto y con un personal insuperable que nos hizo sentir como en casa.

Es un hotel muy diferente al resto de hoteles en los que he estado, es muy personal y acogedor. La recepción como tal no existe, al llegar esperas en una sala preciosa mientras tomas un té de muña para aclimatarte a la altura. 

The first day we arrived in Cusco we stayed in a beautiful and super special hotel, in a 16th century house in the city center. It was the house of Simon Bolivar, "El Liberator" and now it has been turned into a hotel.

When you get inside, it is like entering a private house, an oasis of peace in the city. Inkaterra La Casona is a super elegant hotel, full of historical relics, decorated with a really great taste and with an amazing staff that made us feel at home.

It is a very different hotel from the rest of the hotels I have been to, it is very personal and welcoming. The reception as such does not exist, when you arrive you wait in a beautiful room while you drink a muña tea to acclimatize yourself to the height.

Inkaterra tiene varios hoteles por todo Peru, este es el más pequeño porque está en un edificio protegido, es la joya de la cadena, cuenta con diez suites espectaculares alrededor de un patio central.

A nosotros la casa nos encantó,  tiene mucho valor arquitectónico, hecha con muros de adobe y conservaba puertas y pinturas originales, además se veían claramente distintas épocas arquitectónicas que sufrió la casa puesto que con los terremotos alguna parte se tuvo que reconstruir.

Tiene muchísimo encanto y te sientes como en casa, creo que nunca habíamos estado tan cómodos en un hotel, es lo que más valoro.

Inkaterra has several hotels throughout Peru, this is the smallest because it is in a protected building, it is the jewel of the chain, it has ten spectacular suites around a central patio.

We loved the house, it has a lot of architectural value, made with adobe walls and original doors and paintings are conserved, as well as clearly different architectural periods. The house suffered because some of the earthquakes and it had to be rebuilt.

It has a lot of charm and  I think we had never been so comfortable in a hotel, is what I value most.

Las estancias estaban todas decoradas con tapices auténticos enmarcadas, alfombras típicas peruanas y telas preciosas por todos lados. Miki y yo queríamos toda la decoración para casa. Era súper acogedor y el personal muy atento.

Como bienvenida me hizo muchísima ilusión una carta de personalizada y dos toros de la suerte pintados a mano, típicos de Perú, que se ponen en lo alto del tejado de casa y traen suerte. Vimos aquellas figuras en muchos tejados a lo largo del país. Me pareció un detalle único.

The rooms were all decorated with authentic framed tapestries, typical Peruvian carpets and precious fabrics everywhere. Miki and I wanted all the decoration for our home. It was super cozy and the staff very attentive.

As a welcome, I was very happy to receive a personalized letter and two lucky hand-painted bulls, typical from Peru, which are placed on top of the roof and bring luck. We saw those figures on many rooftops throughout the country. I thought it was a unique detail.

La habitación era preciosa, con los techos originales y pinturas en la pared de la época. El baño era espectacular, casi del mismo tamaño que la habitación y decorado con un gusto exquisito.

The room was beautiful, with the original ceilings and paintings on the wall of the time. The bathroom was spectacular, almost the same size as the room and decorated with exquisite taste.

Puesto que era nuestro primer día en Peru, y Cuzco está a unos 3400m de altura, me dio mal de altura, era una posibilidad que pasara, por lo visto es muy común. Volvimos pronto al hotel y me proporcionaron oxígeno y te de muña que me sentó genial. Además nos prepararon un baño de burbujas aromático después del viaje y el día de turismo por Cuzco.

Cenamos en el hotel, que tenía una cocina súper rica y un pequeño restaurante precioso. Nos acostamos pronto y descansamos muy bien para nuestro siguiente viaje a Aguas calientes, rumbo a Machu Picchu. 

Since it was our first day in Peru, and Cuzco is about 3400m high,I suffered altitude sickness, it was a possibility that it happened, apparently it is very common. We returned soon to the hotel and they gave me oxygen and muña tea that made me feel great. They also prepared us an aromatic bubble bath after the trip and the day of sightseeing in Cuzco.

We dined at the hotel, which had a super rich kitchen and a lovely little restaurant. We go to bed early and rest well for our next trip to Aguas Calientes, heading to Machu Picchu.

El tren salía a las 5 de la mañana y tuvimos que madrugar mucho, aunque para nosotros era una buena hora porque seguíamos con el horario de España. El desayuno estaba cerrado, pero no quisieron que nos fuéramos sin desayunar y nos prepararon un desayuno espectacular en la habitación a esas horas, fue un detallazo.

The train left at 5 in the morning and we had to get up early, although for us it was a good time because we continued with the schedule of Spain. Breakfast was closed at that time, but they did not want us to leave without having breakfast and they prepared a spectacular breakfast in the room, it was such a great gesture.

No tengo palabras para la experiencia en Inkaterra, fue perfecta y lo recomiendo cien por cien si vais a Perú, vale la pena alojarse con ellos. Nunca lo olvidaremos, muchas gracias por todo.

I have no words for the experience in Inkaterra, it was perfect and I hardly recommend it if you go to Peru, it's worth staying with them. We will never forget it, thank you very much for everything.
