DECOR | COMO ELEGIR EL COLOR DE TU SOFA

En casa me gusta que haya armonía, uso mucho esa palabra porque para mi es muy importante en todos los aspectos. Tiene que haber armonía en la composición del espacio, en la luz, en las formas, los tamaños y por supuesto en los colores.

Cuando me enfrenté personalmente a la situación de tener que decidir el color del sofá, o cuando mis amigos y conocidos me piden consejo, lo primero que se me viene a la cabeza son dos maneras de atacar el asunto.

En una estancia a parte de la posición del mobiliario me gusta componer mentalmente todo previamente para que las cosas dialoguen y estén en armonía unas con otras. Cuando pienso en el salón la pieza principal es el sofá me planteo lo siguiente:

¿Quiero que sea todo aquello importante neutro y darle el toque de color y textura con los elementos decorativos (como los cojines, la alfombra, las mantas, los cuadros, las obras de arte, las lamparas etc)¿? 

¿O prefiero que sea el elemento llamativo y que todo gire en torno al sofá, que el resto de elementos queden en un segundo plano?.

Todo es cuestión de dónde quieras focalizar la atención.

I like harmony at home. There must be harmony in the space  composition, the light, shapes, sizes and of course in color.

When I personally face the situation of having to decide the color of the sofa, or when my friends ask me for advice, the first thing that comes to my mind are two ways to attack the issue.

In a room, apart from the furniture position I like to mentally compose everything previously so things will dialogue with each other, that's how I get harmony. When I think of the living room, the main piece is the sofa so here are my two situations:

Do I want everything important to be neutral and give it a touch of color and texture with decorative elements (such as cushions, carpets, blankets, paintings, works of art, lamps, etc.)?

Do I prefer that the striking element is the sofa, and then the rest of the elements around it are neutral in the background?

Everything is a matter of where attention is focused.

En mi caso, cómo era la primera casa elegimos la primera linea. Un sofá muy geométrico y de lineas rectas en un tono neutro, con la alfombra neutra también y la mesa de centro también en la misma línea, muy geométrica y ligera. Sin embargo añadimos el toque de color con una silla Acapulco y con las piezas decorativas. 

In my case, it was the first house so we chose the first line. A very geometric and straight lines sofa in a neutral color, with also a neutral carpet and the coffee table in the same line, very geometric and light. However, the touch of color came with an Acapulco chair and the decorative pieces.

Sin embargo me encantan los salones con sofás llamativos, es otro concepto igual de bonito. Se lleva mucho el terciopelo rosa y verde oscuro. También me encanta el color mostaza o el rojo.

Cuando el sofá es el elemento principal me gusta que el resto de cosas combinen con es color de manera sutil, es decir, en la alfombra, en su mayoría de un color neutro, que haya inserciones de color en las mismas tonalidades. Las piezas de arte decorativas que sean sutiles y delicadas y que todo el protagonismo lo tenga el maravilloso sofá. Las butacas o sillas que lo acompañen que tengan un diseño espectacular pero que no reste, que sumen poder  ala estancia y que aporten diseño pero quizás no tanto color, o un color complementario con la misma intensidad, para que queden al mismo nivel.

However, I love the living rooms with striking sofas, it is another concept but as wonderful as the other. Pink and dark green velvet sofa are so cool now. I also love mustard or red.

When the sofa is the main element, I like that the rest of the elements combines with the color in a subtle way. FOr example, the carpet, mostly neutral with inserts of color in the same tonalities. The pieces of decorative art subtle and delicate letting all the protagonism to the wonderful sofa. The seats or chairs that accompany it may have a spectacular design but do not rest, they have to add to the room and provide design. They can be neutal or in a complementary color with the same intensity, so that it remains at same level.

Al final mi objetivo es que sea una estancia muy personal pero con mucha personalidad y diseño. Que sea especial y que destaque pero siempre sintiéndolo muy tuyo.

In the end my goal is to have a very personal stay but with a lot of personality and design. Something special and that stands out but always feeling yours.
