DESAYUNO EN EL GRAN HOTEL INGLÉS. EL PRIMER HOTEL DE LUJO EN MADRID

Cuando tenemos un fin de semana tranquilo uno de nuestros planes favoritos es ir a tomar un desayuno inolvidable a un sitio diferente de Madrid. Esta vez probamos Lobo 8, el restaurante del Gran Hotel Inglés, que fue espectacular y muy recomendable, y luego tuvimos la suerte de poder conocer el hotel a fondo.

Sabéis que me encanta el diseño de interiores y nada me apasiona más que un hotel bien decorado. El Gran Hotel Inglés es uno de los más exclusivos de Madrid, fue el primer hotel de lujo que hubo en la capital. Se consideraba lujo porque fue el primer hotel en tener un restaurante y baño privado en la habitación y fue el segundo edificio, después del Edificio Telefónica, que contaba con luz eléctrica.

When we have a quiet weekend one of our favorite plans is going to have an unforgettable breakfast at a different place in Madrid. This time we went to Lobo 8, the restaurant of the Gran Hotel Inglés, which was spectacular and highly recommended, and then we were so lucky we could know the hotel in depth.

You know that I love interior design and nothing fascinates me more than a well decorated hotel. The Gran Hotel Inglés is one of the most exclusive hotels in Madrid, it was the first luxury hotel in the city. It was considered luxury because it was the first hotel to have a restaurant and private bathroom in the room and it was the second building, after the Telefónica Building, that had electricity.


El desayuno en Lobo 8 fue riquísimo y muy recomendable, apuntadlo en vuestra lista de sitios pendientes. Era todo incluido: buffet de frutas espectacular y todo tipo de pasteles y una carta con platos calientes como huevos de varios tipos, gofres etc. 
Breakfast at Lobo 8 was delicious and highly recommended, take note on your "to go" list. It was all included: spectacular fruit buffet and all kinds of cakes and a menu with hot dishes such as eggs of various types, waffles and so on. 



Tuvo unos años de esplendor, donde en el hotel se alojaban auténticos mitos como Virginia Woolf o Matisse y después, cuando llegó la crisis el hotel cerró.

Hace poco Hidden Away hotels con Rockwell, que se dedican a rescatar hoteles con historia, lo reformaron entero manteniendo la esencia y apostando por una decoración elegante y clásica, que nos trasladase a aquella época dorada,  pero con toques modernos.

Todo está pensado al detalle, cada rincón tiene un por qué y las 48 habitaciones con las que dispone son todas diferentes. Todavía se conservan lámparas originales y esa estética años 20 se percibe en cuanto entras as vestíbulo principal donde se encuentra el cocktail bar el Lobbyto (haciendo alusión a que antes la calle se llamaba calle del Lobo, porque vivía un cazador y colgaba las pieles del balcón) y a un lado el restaurante Lobo 8, donde desayunamos.

It had a few years of splendor, where stayed in the hotel myths like Virginia Woolf or Matisse and later, when the crisis arrived the hotel closed.

Recently, Hidden Away hotels with Rockwell, which are dedicated to rescuing hotels with history, reformed the entire building maintaining the essence and betting on an elegant and classic decoration, that would take us back to that golden age,  but with modern touches.

Everything is thought out in detail, every corner has a why and the 48 rooms are all different. Original lamps are still conserved and that 20's aesthetics can be perceived when you enter the main lobby where the Lobbyto cocktail bar is located (alluding to the fact that before the street was called Lobo Street, because a hunter lived and hung the skins from the balcony) and to one side the Lobo 8 restaurant, where we had breakfast.







Toda la decoración está en relacionada, siempre aparecen toques dorados, molduras blancas, tapicerías monocromas, terciopelos, papeles pintados...que hacen que sea un sitio muy elegante y acogedor. Además la iluminación es muy agradable y tanto el lobby como las habitaciones hacen que te sientas como en casa.

Me gustó mucho el toque de la bañera exenta y en medio de cada habitación y además en todas hay una guitarra. 
El hotel cuenta, además del cocktail bar y del restaurante, con salas de reunión, gimnasio y un pequeño spa.

All the decoration is related, there are always golden touches, white mouldings, monochrome tapestries, velvets, wallpapers... which make it a very elegant and welcoming place. The lighting is also very pleasant and both, the lobby and the rooms, make you feel at home.

I really liked the touch of the bathtub in the middle of each room and also in all of them there is a guitar. 
The hotel has also some meeting rooms, gym and a small spa.










Como anécdota contaré que yo conocía bien la fama del Gran Hotel Ingles. El año pasado, cuando tuve la suerte de ir al concierto de navidad "All I want for Christmas is you" y al Meet&Greet con Mariah Carey, sabía que ella había querido alojarse aquí porque es de los mejores de la ciudad y una diva como ella no podría estar en otro.

 As an anecdote I will tell that I knew well the Gran Hotel Ingles fame. Last year, when I was so lucky to go to the Christmas concert "All I want for Christmas is you" and Meet&Greet with Mariah Carey, I knew she wanted to stay here because it was the best in the city and a diva like her couldn't be in another.

Ese día llevaba la chaqueta de la marca Pintini, de mi amiga Silvia Rodriguez. Me parece una pasada de prenda y el color es precioso.
Estoy super orgullosa de ella porque después de todo el esfuerzo y el trabajo esta consiguiendo sacar unas prendas espectaculares.

That day I was wearing the Pintini jacket, from my friend's Silvia Rodriguez brand.  I think it's a huge piece and the color is gorgeous.
I'm super proud of her because after all the effort and work she's getting some spectacular pieces.
