LOCATION: Paestum, Italy
La visita a Paestum me sorprendió mucho. No me esperaba que fuese a ser un lugar tan especial. Las ruinas de Paestum son lo que queda de la antigua ciudad de Poseidonea, un nombre que por cierto me parece precioso.
Llegamos los primeros a la zona arqueológica, muy temprano por la mañana, estaba en silencio y la luz era preciosa. Se podían ver tres templos griegos en un estado espectacular.
Son construcciones que no estamos acostumbrados a ver e impactan mucho. Tienen ese carácter imponente de construcción sagrada que te deja boquiabierto y no puedes parar de mirarlo.
Recuerdo cuando estudié los templos griegos y la configuración espacial del interior, pero nunca había visto ninguno donde se percibiera bien, normalmente se ven las columnas exteriores y los frisos pero en interior está vacío. En Paestum hay uno de los templos en los que se ve bastante bien la parte de la naos y dónde estaba la figura de la divinidad.
The visit to Paestum surprised me a lot. I didn't expect it to be such a special place. The ruins of Paestum are what remains of the ancient city of Poseidonea, a name that I think is beautiful btw.
We arrived at the archaeological place very early in the morning, it was quiet and the light was beautiful. Three Greek temples could be seen in a spectacular state.
They are constructions that we are not used to seeing nowadays and they have a great impact. They have that imposing character of a sacred construction that leaves you speechless and you can't stop looking at it.
I remember when I studied the Greek temples and the interior spatial configuration, but I had never seen anyone that was well perceived, usually you see the outer columns and friezes but inside it is empty. In Paestum there is one of the temples where you can see the naos and where the figure of the divinity was.

Se encuentra en una zona muy natural, está poco explotado en los alrededores y es muy agradable el entorno. Se perciben también otras construcciones de la ciudad, como la plaza central o el anfiteatro pero no están tan bien conservados, aunque como comenté, gracias a la visita a Pompeya días antes fue mucho más consciente de la escala de esta plaza a pesar de que sólo quedaban los cimientos.
Después de la visita hay un museo bastante interesante pero lo mejor del museo es la tumba del nadador. Normalmente cuando se enterraba a los muertos las tumbas en el interior no estaban decoradas, pero los arqueólogos descubrieron una de ellas pintada en el interior, es super bonita.
It is located in a very natural area, little exploited in the surroundings and is a very pleasant environment. You can also see other constructions of the ancient city, such as the central square or the amphitheatre but they are not so well preserved, although as I said, thanks to the visit to Pompeii days earlier was much more aware of the scale of this square even though only the foundations remained.
After the visit there is a quite interesting museum but the best part of the museum is the tomb of the diver. Usually were buried the tombs inside were not decorated, but the archaeologists discovered one of them painted inside, it is beautiful.
