I had this post prepared before I imagined that we would end up in this covid quarantine period and in this weird situation. I had it almost ready and I think it's the right time to share it with you.
We have to keep in mind that it is not easy to share the work space with the leisure space and for that we have to set some rules and a clear routine because otherwise we go crazy.
As I thought this post in a normal situation, the first point today can not be done 100%. The ideal would be:
1. Before starting work establish a routine and integrate activities that make you leave the house even for ten minutes. Have breakfast outside, go to the gym first thing in the morning, go out to buy bread, take the dog out...anything that will make you get some fresh air.
*With the situation this point should be avoided although, if we have the opportunity, going out to get some air wouldn't be bad for starting the day off well.
2. Choose work clothes, don't stay in pyjamas, it is important for mental health that you separate very well the time of work from the rest of the time. When you share space and the look is a very good way to do it.
3. Tidy space, tidy mind. Keep the house tidy so that your mind is clearer and you avoid distractions, you will be more inclined and more comfortable.
4. Background music: quiet and low volume helps you concentrate and not hear your thoughts constantly. The day becomes easier and shorter.
5. Orient your eyes towards a wide and open space, don't work against a wall. It is important from time to time to look up to think and see air, you will feel more liberated.
6. Analyze the light. Place your work table so that your hand or computer does not produce a shadow on your surface when you work.
7. Keep a diary and make a schedule. Take short breaks and don't mix housekeeping with your work schedule.
And most importantly:
8. Drink plenty of water. It sounds like a cliché but it keeps you awake, hydrated and focused and makes you go to the bathroom often, which encourages short breaks to disconnect.
